My wife put this article on my desk that was written by Mr Chris Spence who is the Director of Education at the Toronto District Board of Education.
In the article he outlines on the the most ingenious and practical ideas I have heard of in quite some time.
While there is always a certain amount of enlightened self interest at work here, this idea is basically quite sound and could definitely work to the betterment of the community in a very green way through the re-use of existing facilities (ie schools).
I’d encourage everyone in the community to read this article and do whatever you can to get behind this idea and make it happen.
Because, let’s face it, great ideas don’t come along every day.

green bag lady - karma tube
There are times when special people just decide that something must be done to correct a problem. A real example of this is Teresa Van Hatten-Granath, the ‘green bag lady,’ for example. Her passion for being environmentally-friendly has inspired her to setup a wonderful initiative that she funds herself. Watch her beautiful story and perhaps join in!
If each one of us was willing to take one of the problems that ffect our planet and take the same kind of initiative as Teresa did, this world would be a whole lot better place to live.

We all know about the plastic bag horror stories. We are trying to reduce those numbers by charging for plastic bags and encouraging the use of re-usable carrying bags. But still billions are: polluting oceans, killing wildlife and getting dumped in landfill.
A Canadian high school student had a better idea and came up with a way to make plastic bags degrade in as little as three months. This could revolutionize this major environmental issue.

How the City of Toronto is greening its fleet of public vehicles. We’re never really sure just how much municipal governments are really contributing to the green movement. But we do know they generally react to public pressure.
